We are working to improve, solve and upgrade various issues related to road traffic so that the customers can drive safely, securely and comfortably on expressways.
Through our safety and security initiatives, we are contributing to the provision of safe and secure expressway spaces by analyzing the causes of traffic accidents, formulating measures and verifying their effectiveness, and examining how we can provide customers with information on constantly changing road conditions in an easy-to-understand manner.
To reduce traffic jams, which have become a social loss, we are contributing to the reduction of traffic congestion by planning and verifying the effectiveness of measures to reduce peak-hour traffic volume, measures to mitigate traffic congestion that take advantage of how people respond to light, and construction regulation plans that minimize the occurrence of traffic congestion. The initiatives to reduce the traffic congestion also helps to curb global warming. In addition, we are contributing to the provision of comfortable road facilities by analyzing the actual usage of parking lots at service areas, etc., and considering ways to make rest facilities more user-friendly, safer and more convenient.
We analyze the causes of traffic accidents on expressways, formulate measures and verify the effects. We also conduct factor analysis, planning measures and verifying the effects of wrong way driving on expressways and traffic accidents caused by elderly people, which have been increasing in recent years.
To prevent traffic accidents on expressways, we have created and distributed a “Traffic Safety Textbook” that can be read all family members and we also conduct educational activities such as traffic safety seminars.(Limited to Japan)

By avoiding time zones with heavy demand for traffic and shifting to time zones with relatively lighter traffic, it is possible to delay or ease traffic congestion. At our company, we are planning and verifying the effectiveness of the TDM measures implemented on the Tomei expressway, such as the “Tomei Traffic Jam Reduction Team Campaign”.
Using the way people respond to light, we are planning and verifying the effectiveness of a congestion mitigation measure that will encourage slow moving vehicles to increase their speed and increase traffic capacity by moving LED light emitters installed on the side of the road at an arbitrary speed.

With our top priority being ensuring traffic safety for customers, we are working to improve the provision of road traffic information and give our customers a more pleasant expressway driving experience through efforts such as assistance with optimal route selection and provision of congestion information at rest facilities.
The time required for travel on expressways is calculated by measuring the speed data of a traveling vehicle with a vehicle sensor, but the accuracy of this calculation system poses a problem in the case of traffic congestion at significantly low speeds, such as when lanes are restricted due to intensive construction work. Therefore, to improve the accuracy of the required time in such cases, we developed the required time calculation system using Bluetooth installed in electronic devices.

We have developed an experimental plan for three-lane operation by converting the climbing lane near the bottleneck of concentrated traffic congestion for use as a normal lane, and are verifying its effectiveness.

Due to the aging of expressways, it is expected that construction regulations for large scale renewal and repair work will be frequently used in the future. We formulate and verify the effects of construction regulation plans to efficiently implement construction regulations and minimize construction traffic congestion.
We use traffic data collected by various observation instruments to analyze the impact of the opening of new sections, changes in toll policies and social conditions on traffic trends, and create basic data helpful in planning future policies and verifying their effectiveness.
We analyze the actual usage of parking lots in service areas and parking areas and examine the layout and effectiveness of parking lot traffic management, notifications and guidance, parking lot placement, etc., to make them safer and more convenient rest facilities.
